In July, Arizona Governor Ducey expressed his desire that schools be open for learning, and his Executive Order provided flexibility for private school communities to re-open as they see appropriate, based upon the context of their school community.
Our Back to School protocol represents a well-reasoned re-opening plan that implements public health guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and the Arizona Department of Health Services, in response to Governor Ducey’s expectation.
It is the goal of RCS that our classroom instruction (as demonstrated in our school mission) be Christ-centered, Biblically-principled with our focus being on growing in our knowledge of and trust in our Almighty God.
Our classroom instruction flows with learning protocols and class community jobs and responsibilities. Among some of these responsibilities are cleaning responsibilities, as an expression of our school virtues:
- Christian Integrity (doing right thing, thoroughly, truthfully, beautifully, whole-heartedly to God as our service to Him)
- Productivity (being thorough, efficient)
- Respect (respectful of teachers/peers/others, stewardship of what is provided for the students)
- Orderliness (healthy habits of orderliness, cleanliness, mindful and well-planned service to others)
At the conclusion of the 19-20 school year, a Task Force of Staff, Faculty and parents was formed to study CDC guidelines and Maricopa County Health Department recommendations throughout the summer with regard to in-school instruction for the 20-21 school year. A preliminary step-wise plan, the Resume Christian School Plan, outlining protocols for safe return to school was released earlier this summer and emailed to parents.
As RCS prepares for our in-person school start date of August 19, 2020, health promotion and disease prevention protocols have been planned. These efforts are detailed in our Back to School Health Protocols Plan. Parameters in our Back to School plan reflect the elements of disease prevention and mitigation as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and local health departments in their most updated reports.
